LOCATION:

Building 76
Pomona, CA 91768

Parking and internet access is free for CSA members.  You do need a parking pass displayed in your car or the university police may give you a ticket (which cannot be reversed by CSA or the venue). Please check in with the hotel front desk staff for procedures.  The front desk does have limited hours on Friday (24 hours on Saturday), so if you are planning to arrive after 7pm on Friday please call the front desk at the number above to find out about your late arrival and parking.  Also we were given the following link and told that CSA members could register parking.  Or CSA participants can register their car ahead of time using the link below. If using the link, they will be asked to for the event name, it will be “CA Sociological Association” https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/0d5c662abc6d4b80814c5c3ce94a1ef8

Once you arrive, please head directly to the hotel lobby to find the CSA registration/welcome table (available 8am-4pm).  That is where you will check in and we will provide you with the final program and your name badge.  Please wear your name badge at all times while attending the conference.

The conference sessions will run between 9am and 5pm each day, with an hour off for lunch (see below for food info).  Sessions are 90 minutes each.  The session organizer/presider is responsible for monitoring the time for each presentation and for the overall session.  The organizer/presider’s job is to hookup a laptop to the projector (hdmi cable provided) and receive the presentations from the other presenters, so that only one laptop is connected to the projector during the session.  The organizer/presider’s job is also to communicate time available (and time left) for each presentation, before and during the session.  The last job of the presider is to guide the question and answer session after the presentations.

If you are a presenter and have not already, please connect with your session organizer to discuss the details of your session, such as how long you will present, how to send presentation materials to the organizer for display, etc.  Session organizers, if you haven’t already please contact your presenters with details about your session.

All session rooms will be equipped with a projector, screen, podium, and power cords.  Session organizers should plan on bringing their laptop to connect to our projectors via hdmi cable.  We do provide the hdmi cables.  If you have your own cable, please bring it as a backup.

If you need an adapter to connect to the hdmi cable, then you should provide that.   The registration table will have a few adapters (e.g., vga and a few others), but we can’t possibly cover all the various hookups beyond the standard hdmi one.

Presenters that seek to display a presentation during their session should send that to the session organizer before the start of the session. Typically the session organizer connects their laptop to the projector and all presentations run through that one laptop.

The keynote address on Friday night at 5pm in the dining room is sure to be enlightening.  The keynote address is open to everyone, including non-presenting student observers.

Food

The CSA does not cover your meals, with an exception.  For all paid participants, except student observers who pay only a nominal fee to observe, the buffet dinner on Friday night is included with your paid registration. The buffet dinner on Friday night is following the keynote and starts about 6pm in the dining room.  Also, we do plan to provide a limited continental breakfast on both days (near the registration table, beginning 8am), but it is not meant to fully cover everyone’s breakfast needs.

There is a lunch break on Friday and Saturday. The on-site restaurant is open on Friday but not Saturday.  There is a snack bar on site, but that is likely insufficient for lunch.  While there are nearby restaurants, we’ve been told that none are easily within walking distance.  While some people may still choose to walk, and of course driving off site is a possibility, the ideal suggestion is to have CSA members order their own delivery, e.g., through the restaurant directly or through doordash or ubereats or grubhub.  The CSA also will have a signup sheet for Subway orders on the registration desk, which would need to be prepaid and completed by Friday noon, in order for us to place the order for delivery of the food to the registration desk on Saturday at noon.

Here’s a list of the closest food places,
